Really? That's intriguing. Have you got any proof for that?

Just for the record, this is not the most extreme hollow grind I have ever encountered. But the most consistent.
Was just pure speculation, but if you had of said if was another, "Peres", wouldn't have been shocked, was just guessing

I'll have to go down and look for it, here's an old pic.

Thanks, tonights razor, if found, is selected...

Excellent choice. Do some research on Daniel Peres's history. He is arguably the most interesting Solingen razor maker. Seriously. And yes, I should never have sold that Regina

Lovely razor but it is a fool's game to argue about which is the most hollow ground razor. There appear to be a few that fall into possible consideration so it comes to splitting hairs. You'll know an extremely hollow ground razor the minute you shave with it by the sound and by how flexible the blade is when lightly pushed side ways. Yes, you could measure but that is just a little too scientific for me.

I'm not sure the few people alive from the days of old I met a few years would agree, Bob. Quite the contrary.

    Dubl Duck: Made by apprentices.

    Peres: Well, yes...

Well, yes. Let's measure them, shall we? I'm very much in favour of science over folk lore. But you know that

The edge put on said razor along with an experienced user will get an excellent shave every time. Regardless of brand or how hollow the hollow is. End result? The same. I used to play the same game with different razors. Measure the angles etc. End of the day it doesn't mean anything. Some razors fit better in your hand. Stropping? Sure it's easier to strop a 6/8 and up than a 3/8. The thinnest blades are de. And I hate using them so I don't.

Just to be clear: you are saying that a wedge (by which I mean a real wedge, not one of the new-fangled razors that are actually half hollow sold as wedges because $$$) has the same shaving properties as a full hollow (by which I mean a 1930s through 1943 Solingen hollow ground made by a Meister - and I realise that few people here will be able to offer an informed, first-hand opinion)?

For you? Maybe. Feel free to post a poll to find out who else thinks that's a sensible opinion.

Intriguing. Would you care to elaborate how an 8/8ths razor will behave the same as a 3/8ths razor? Nothing fancy, just basic physics. Thank you.

We were talking about cut-throat razors, not DEs.

I been using one for 8 years. I have heard about the holy Grail razor since then. I find that the whole scientific end of it is nonsense. What did barbers use? No name hollow grinds. A whole slew of them for sale on eBay. If there was one razor that had something over another brand they would all have used it.

    A DE? Congrats.

Well, you should quit that forum then. It is apparently badly moderated.

Intriguing. Which scientific experiments exactly did you perform to come to this conclusion?

I am sure you will back up this claim by irrefutable proof shortly. Thank you.

True. How about Puma? Or Duble Duck? Or, of course, the ever popular Solingen made export brand Filarmonica?

Fili 14 to gold dollar 66 the cheap one. I have no issue taking the beard off. There's no need to try to reinvent the wheel. You can go do your "experiments". Suit yourself. A properly hones razor is all you need as well as the ability to use it. I will let you continue your classroom discussion now. Oh I shaved with my pocket knife the other day. Just to see. I wonder how thin it is? Lol.
