A couple weeks in

Good morning...

Well I ama couple of weeks in, and want to confirm the tips and techniques shared by all really help.

I can only straight razor on the weekends for now. Not enough time before work.
(I use the DE during the week for now)
Stropping is coming together, not dramatic sweeps like in the movies for sure.
I start with Truefitt & Hill Ultimate Comfort Pre-Shave Oil, (recommended to me at Imperial Shave) then to soap.
The neck area around the ears and chin are still a little intimidating but with practice are getting there.
I am a lefty, but am training to use both hands during the shave.

One thing I am finding is to make sure I do not move my face while using the razor. Make sure the skin is tought first, hold a second then shave. I nick myself while trying to adjust during mid-stroke.
(I hope this explinantion makes sense)

I do really enjoy the process!

Imperial Shave pre shave isn't to shabby either!
Sounds like your starting out the right way.

And, by the way, we've all made that "move the face" mistake. I once tried to get a better look at my sideburns, and touched my ear with the edge....didn't know ears bled that much:rofl2:

Mid stroke grip adjustments are where I'd nick myself..
Always take blade away from face for those..

Blade angle is key! As you gain experience, you will learn what minute adjustments are needed in which areas.
You will get it. Just don't do radical or multiple changes. One change at a time, taking notes, will get you there.

Remove all (potential) distractions. Don't try to make it a race. Don't shave while stressed out!
