Will I Be Banned From SRP???

Well out of the blue I did something this morning
that I had not planned too do. In fact it was a last
minute decision. While lathering up with Trumper's
Rose soap I had ever intention of using my 7/8 W&B
spike this morning. But for some reason I opened
up my medicine cabinet and took out my Merkur
classic DE. I put in a Merkur blade and started to shave.

I don't know what came over me. Since switching to
a straight in Janurary of last year I have only strayed
3 times. On these occasions I was on a road trip
and the last one of these was July of last year.

There is really no way that anyone could call this
premeditated and as such I throw myself on the
mercy of the forum and I'm confident that a fair
judgement will be rendered.

I promise too be more careful in the future.

Meh, I still use my Tech on occasion. I'd have used it today but I made some plans so I want to use a sure thing -- TEW, Genco, Filly, W&B, Workman or The Winner.

Last time I tried a DE razor out of the blue, I was so underwhelmed by the poor shave I put it up for sale on B&B about an hour later. :)

I'm not sure if I was just out of practice with a DE, or if straight razor shaves are just that much better. :shrug:

I haven't been fully faithful to the straight either. I didn't discover DE's until about the time I started working on the shaving stuff for the troops project. I figured I needed to be where I could give guidance if they wanted it. I dare say I'm enjoying shaves with a DE... having a blast actually. The DE is small enough I can get the right angle of attack on my problem areas. But, it's too bulky to get stuff like my chin effectively. If I use both, it's 100% BBS.

Can anyone really say that shaving commando with a DE is the same.

No, it ain't the same. Commando shaving with a straight requires a little extra concentration. This is partly why my DE sees more action than the straight lately.

No Rich, I'm ashamed to say that I wasn't. But the DE is
going back into hibernation where it belongs. For tomorrows
shave my 5/8 Case bn is lying in wait.

The DE for this point will be used for travel only, which
in my case is infrequent.

Some folks have more trouble with monogamy than others. If none of your straights jump up and bite you next shave (don't shave commando for a while JIC), you're in the clear. ;)

Its ok DE's have their limitation and a straight will always come through. For instance today was the first time that I shaved for 3 weeks...I had to use my 12/8's...try that with a DE lol....but ya...I hope your conscience catches up with you :nono:

I think it is forgivable. I tend to use my DE on a daily basis, reserving my straight razors for the weekend or days off when I can take the time and enjoy my shave.

The DE do a good enough job to get me out of the bath room quickly so that the misses can spend 1 1/2 hours complaining about her hair. LOL!

DE on most workdays (part-time these days so it isn't often) if time is a factor. Straight when I have ample time. BBS is the goal and the time is enjoyable. Never commando!

Lately I've been doing as you have, monte.

I simply don't make enough time for a straight razor shave in the morning before work, so I find myself reaching for the DE, which I was only introduced to after I started straight razor shaving, so I guess I can forgive myself.

As I stated in the preparation thread a minute or two ago, I just sharpened up a few of my straights, so they're ready to go. Just got to wait a little longer for the stubble to grow in a bit.

Come on you girly men, don't have time to use the straight. That seems like a poor excuse. 15 to 20 minutes for a shave is all it takes... Just stop shaving your legs and you will have ample time..:roflmao

Im with Rich. Shower, prep in the shower, pre shave oil on while you dry yourself off, lather up and strop while it soaks, re lather, single pass, 15-20 minutes top, and a WAY better shave with one pass then I used to get.

Heh. Well, I'm not really at too many parties on work nights, but I do enjoy my sleep. In fact, today I hit the snooze button a bunch of times and again headed out the door with my boots untied to save time. I tied 'em while parked at various stop lights. Luckily, when purchasing a Coke at the vending machine this morning, a large energy drink popped out along with the Coke. So that perked me up. :D
