Confused tugging
Ok so I'm gonna start from the beginning for Christmas I had my ole lady purchase me a twin duck that was NOS other than someone had dropped it an chipped the toe pics are in thread titled twin duck help (I believe).
So now we fast forward I have repaired the razor honed 3 separate time an each time I get tugging with the grain when attempting to shave so I just pick up another razor an finish the shave until yesterday's shave this will be the fourth attempt I just went with it slight tugging nothing horrible just like the last 3 times but this time I relathered an shaved against the grain an wouldn't you know smooth shaving with no tug or irritation now with the other 3 shaves there was razor burn this time none.
So what gives same irritation with the grain as the other shaves but fine against an no razor burn?

It might be a razor angle issue, but I'm not sure.
Are you confident in your honing?
-
Yes I'm confident in my honing I've only had problems honing one other razor a Boker an it was warped.
The first two times I honed the duck it wasn't from bevel setting up I tried just dropping down an starting at 5k an working back up the 1st time the 2nd time I dropped down to 3k the 3rd time was from bevel set to completion. The reason I tried this is it had an even bevel from the factory an a sharp edge so I figured just touching it up would be fine the tugging hasn't gotten worse or better an it is slight.
As for it being angle I guess it's possible but I don't hold this razor any differently than any other the only thing I notice I do any differently is I pull my skin a bit tighter to go against the grain but not an excessive amount so I didn't think this was the issue.

Is that a band name or a metaphor for adolescence?
The edge sounds harsh. Sharp and smooth are two totally different things for most, most of the time. I find it useful to make the distinction between the 2. Could be a foil edge snapped off in a spot or full of stria. Does Crox improve it? If so you, and without a microscope- you could either lightly glass the edge or not-- and start again, I would add a layer of tape for a more obtuse bevel, therefore more support and less frailty of the very edge.

I guess it could be both.
Now as for the edge under a pocket microscope no foil edge everything is smooth no sharp edges stria nothing like that.
An as for Crox none around I don't feel the need for pasted strops never have I know they have their own advantages just not interested in it never have been. I am strictly a strop an hone (not in that order) man nothing more nothing less. If the edge needs a touch up I just reach for a barber hone.
