I tried it today, and it seems to improve the shave!!
I have heard of this, but I would call into question the shave readiness of your razor why would it lose it's keeness of edge in-between passes?
I don't,,, my shaves take too long as it is.
I don't see where it would hurt
I strop before the shave & after the shave.
I remember our local barber stropping between passes on old Walter, the man with the toughest beard in town. Old Walter didn't hear the barber's cussing because he always took a nap during a shave.;)
I only strop between passes if the blade is dragging or seems a bit dull. That means it's the last shave with it until honing is done.
My razor is very shave ready, but I was rememering that barbers did it. So I tried it myself. It did seem to make the 2nd pass a little better. I normally strop before, and after.
Will have to try it sometime.
Thanks for sharing the outcome
I've been thinking about doing this as well. I've seen mastro livi do it in videos. I basically only use a strait anymore, and it seems like no matter how great my first or second pass is, my final pass always seems like my blade isn't performing as well....Idk. I have a very wire like hair consistency on my face, and even the second pass send to be considerably less then the first. Stropping between passes couldn't hurt, I wouldn't think.
Sometimes I will give a razor a few laps before the ATG pass. I also have a barber hone on my sink and sometimes before the ATG I'll even give the razor 3-4 laps on the barber hone, if for any reason at all I think it isn't cutting up to par.
