I knew it was bound to happen, this morning I bumped the edge of my Torrey against the faucet. Now it has a chip about half the thickness of the bevel about 1/4 of the way from the toe of the blade!
I guess if there is another local gathering this spring I'll have to learn to hone it.
Oh that does bite sir...
I dinged one early on and have worked from a filled sink and scuttle pretty much ever since.
The act of swishing under running water while convenient, was both wasteful and risky. Once they installed smart meters on the water lines I started connecting dots and changed my ways a bit.
Probably better for the environment as well as my steel and wallet.
I know some, like my barber, use a dry towel or sleeve to wipe the lather and shave dry basically, but I like the added water from a wet rinsed blade during the shave so chose my path accordingly.
Good luck on the rehone. I will be hosting a GTG in Orangeville this summer at some point for certain so hopefully if you don't meet up down south you will be able to make the drive north of Brampton.

I did the same thing once, don't feel too bad about it. After a honing it was like brand new.
I used a wet wash cloth this morning and it worked well. I think I'll continue this method, the wet cloth seems to clean the razor better and my thought is it should be less abrasive should the edge graze the cloth. Water use is very minimal as well which is a plus.
Ouch, sorry to hear about that chip.
But it is repairable.
I'd be willing to bet you will be more mindful of the faucet from now on.
Lesson learned, just be glad it wasn't worse:) What is your backup shaver while you wait to fix your Torrey?
