Personally I don't see a big difference between the 2 sizes in use. Most of my blades are in those 2 sizes.

The way I hold the razor I find a little more control with the 6/8. But that's personal preference.
i might get a 6/8 for my next razor and try it out
you may also want to look at trying razors of different grinds too. They all shave just a little different and we all wind up with preferences here and there.
Variety is the spice of life. Try different sizes and grinds, you will find you will start liking different things about razors. At that point your trouble will begin. Go to the search function and enter RAD, see what you find. Good luck.
i have half hollw, full hollow, and a near wedge on it`s way. exited to get the near wedge a go when it`s arrives.
I shave with both sizes, I use the 6/8th for my cheeks and will switch to a 5/8 or even my 4/8ths for my chin and neck areas. I find the smaller ones are easier to shave the chin and neck without getting cut or razor burn. I also find the half and quarter hollows easier to maintain than wedges or full hollows. Of course that's just me, I have about 15 or so razors and have 3 of them shaving, My wedges and near wedges need some work.
And there we go enabling RAD again. :)
Totally agree with what the others have said. Most will agree there isn't a huge difference between a 5/8 and 6/8 razor of similar grind. But there can be a huge difference in feel between, say, a 6/8 near wedge and a 6/8 full hollow. They will all work - it's personal preference. And it's entirely OK to be inconsistent in that preference. Currently my two favourites are a big honking mid-19th-century Sheffield near wedge that's just over an inch in width. And a tiny little super-light 6/8 Thiers-Issard 69 frameback. They are totally different, but both work great.
LOL, I said he should try them not buy them all.
