I rinse and wipe on every pass.
Rinse only. I tried the towel and prefer the rinse. I am careful not to get my hands or the scales wet most days. I do very carefully dry the razor with a towel after shaving.
Well for me my lather starts to dry out if I wipe, I am still vert new to ths so that's just why for me :P
As far as rinsing for me, the water never touches the scales or even the tang, only the blade, so it is no issue for me either
Wipe. Use a small wet face towel draped over the edge of the sink. I know that if I rinsed under a running tap I'd end up dinking the edge in a momentary lapse of concentration.
Rinse. I dry the razor thoroughly after the shave.
Rinse, then dry on a face cloth draped over the edge of the sink between passes.
I shave after the shower, so my routine is to wipe the blade on the bath towel that is wrapped around my waist. Rinsing is just an invitation to rust or the inevitable faucet ding. As a pro honer I prefer you to rinse. Keep those dings coming!
I like the idea of just wiping on a face towel during thr shave but I'd need to rinse it under running water at the very end - in which case I might as well just rinse & save myself the extra laundry.

Why waste it. Just use it on the other cheek[emoji41].

Dagnabit! Just had a shave with my new straight (the only one I own) & I knocked the edge right on the tap. TWICE! Finished the shave but at the end I could plainly see the damage I had done.
I don't have a loupe yet (in the post) but this was as clear as day to the eye. I stropped for a while (the only thing at my disposal - first hones are in the post as well) but I saw no improvement.
Now I'm brand spanking new to this so I don't know if stropping would even help and, if it does, I'm pretty sure I'm not the man to do it.
It's just that I only made my comment on this thread about rinsing rather than wiping yesterday. The irony displeases me....
