First straight razor shave, first lesson
New here so thought I'd share. I started shaving with a safety razor when I was a teen. Went with the fad of multiblade in my 20's, decided to go back to my safety razor about 3 months ago(20+ years later) and it was like riding a bike. My intent was to go into straight razor shaving. Here in lies the lesson. Decided today was the day. Did my normal prep, broke out my new "shave ready" Hart razor and lathered up. Picked up the razor and started just as I practiced several times with my "practice" razor.
First several passes went well. That's where confidence set in and it happened.
I started to speed up and decided to go back over an area I shaved already without lathering. Yup, 1" slice/scrape along my cheek. As I enjoyed the bite of my alum block I contemplated my errors.
Fellow new to straight razor shavers, strop your razors, even new shave ready ones, follow the wonderful advice here on shaving(relather) and take your time. Don't rush.
