Default Combining a straight razor shave with a DE shave

Just curious if anyone else has done this type of shave. The first pass I use one of my straights, and if I am in a bit of a hurry, I will do a second pass with my Mekur/Feather blade DE razor. I get the best of both worlds, so to speak! Any thoughts/comments?

Just about everyone who started with a straight was doing some clean up with a DE or shall I dare say it,, a Mach 2047 thingy. Not uncommon at all my friend. But most give it up unless in a hurry for straight shaves 100%. Tc

What's great about this journey; you can shave any way you like.

Many of us have done this when first starting with a straight razor. Clean up with the DE.
Actually I still use a DE when I am in a hurry in the mornings. If I don't have time for a two pass, enjoyable shave, then a DE it is.
I enjoy my Straight shaves, nice and slow, comfortable, no hurry.

But if that works for you great!
Each of is different in how we shave.

My current routine is to shave with a str8 razor 1st pass WTG, and 2nd pass ATG. I then do a clean-up pass XTG using a DE. The hair on my jawline grows from chin to ear and I have never been able to get a BBS shave there using a str8 only. I also have difficulty shaving my chin; the DE helps. If you look at photos of men back in the 1800s when a straight razor was the only type available, a lot of me sported chin hair. I now know why.

Razors are simply tools. Use whatever tools and techniques work best for your face.

    prrfan,
I did that a lot the first couple of years or so after I started with straight razors until I got my confidence and skill level to the point that I was getting good shaves with the straight by itself. I think it's a great way to go! The important thing to do is go at your own pace and enjoy it.
