    Boring? I think not! I LOVE NPR! So count me in. I have Amazon's Echo (Alexa) and many mornings I just say, "Alexa, Play My Flash News Briefing" and off she goes, with NPR News.

    Alexa is wonderful because it's all voice command. So in the morning, I say, "Alexa, Play Wayne Shorter (or Miles Davis, or any Jazz Artist) and that's what plays. You can get an Echo DOT (to hook up to a stereo) for $50. That's what I have in the bathroom. An Echo Dot hooked up to a Bose Wave Radio. Best 50 bucks I ever spent.

    Anyway, my 2 cents worth.

    Mahalo!

    Usually some time period appropriate bluegrass or some blues. I like all kinds of music but I like old timey stuff when I shave.

    I generally shave in silence... But I get up at 3:00am.

    The dog doesn't even want to go out at that hour.

    Movie soundtracks. 30's and 40's. Thomas Newman, Ludivico Einaudi. Good stuff, but pretty mellow. Ken Burns civil war soundtrack too.

    The Jazz I play is classic, not new (90 percent of the time), so I too play old music. The bulk of my Jazz library spans from 1930 - 1970, with the core of the Masters being in the 1940-1960 range.

    I do enjoy Big Band Jazz and Swing as well. Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and of course Woody Herman. I was playing Benny Goodman "moonglow" and Woody Herman "Giant Steps" today while shaving;

    My pleasure. That version of "Moonglow" by Goodman is a classic. Woody Herman's "Giant Steps" is a wild ride, and was Herman's attempt to push the limits of his band and try to appeal to a younger audience. It's a strong take-off on John Coltrane's "Giant Steps"

    If you like "Moonglow" by Goodman, you will probably really like this classic from the late 30s. Charlie Barnet and his Orchestra "Where Was I"
    I would bet my grandfather listened to this while Straight Razor shaving! It's one of those tunes you would definitely hear on late 1930s early 1940s radio broadcasts!

    These tracks are all very well (and I like them all) but when I'm shaving the only sound I want to hear is that of a knife being dragged across toast.

    My favorites are the old crooners - Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, etc....

    Here's a little Sinatra for your listening pleasure:
