I switched to cold-water shaving about 4 months after taking up straights nearly 7 years ago, and I get great results. Even in the dead of winter, I find that the cold water doesn't feel too cold on my face; I suppose that's because of all the blood rushing around in one's head. One added benefit I've noticed is that when I do nick myself, it doesn't bleed as much and it stops faster; maybe the cold water keeps the capillaries from dilating? Just my two cents; you gotta do what is most comfortable and effective for you. Have fun!
