Hi guys,
Just a quick question to see what's the collective experience:
Do you use different shaving techniques for say 6/8 size full hollows and 5/8 size 3/4 - 1/2 hollows?
(I don't think I do anything very different for these. Now, for really heavy wedges in the biggest sizes I do modify stroke a bit - because I HAVE to :roflmao )

The only thing I do that's different is I stretch my skin more and spend more time on prep when I use my F. Reynolds 4/8.
No, I don't do anything different. There is less feedback with the heavy grinds and sometimes I might check my work more often, but I think my technique is the same.

For me it's not so much the grind as the weight I guess. I have to be a bit more conscious of keeping a light touch with the heavier blades.

I prefer the heavier blade and it seems that I handle it differently than the light full hollow, though I'm not sure I consciously change my technique. :shrug: Maybe a steeper angle with the heavier blade on later passes.

I'm afraid I'm just not that cerebrel about my technique. It's more of a feed back process where I adjust what I'm doing based on an assessment of the immediate past results (even this sounds more cerebrel than it really is, it's really more synaptic than reasoned). And I'm afraid that if I concentrated on what I actually do with different razors, grinds etc., it would throw me off and I might cut myself.
The only difference is because of the larger scale size on the bigger razors I have to adjust my hold because they get in the way at times.
Really should be no difference except for being careful of longer blades with spike points or the change in grip to accomodate different size scales and tangs if needed. I definitely see a difference in the wider blades as there is a tendency to flatten out the angle and I always need to make sure around the 30 degree or less angle on these, particularly on the chin.
