Figured that would get your attention 😂 Just had my first shave with a straight razor. There really is an art form to this. Shaved twice going down and shaved up against grain with disposable razor. Figured I would do this for a bit to get the feel of the blade. Really enjoyed it and love the smells of sandlewood and tonight was Arlington. So glad I took the plunge. 😁

Congrads! Two things to never forget,,, No pressure and watch the angle. Get those two things down pat (Just like when you learned how to use a DE) and it will be less of a curve learning. Enjoy and welcome to the group of crazy folks that want to take the sharpest things on the plant to there necks. Ha.
    It's just Sharpening, right?

Congrats on the shave, be careful... Don't get too comfortable just yet. Lots of shaves ahead, before comfortable is allowed. Comfortable is when you don't even think about it any more, but keep your wits on what the blade is doing, and where its at on your face. Especially when around the chin, where you might be watching the heal, but the toe is slicing off the end of your nose.

    Congrats man!

My truly A-HA moment came when shaving with different grinds and learning to get my shaving angle right.

I prefer smaller blader around the 4/8 size, I get the razor very flat on my face, as flat as I can whilst still being able to shave off the whiskers, gets a very smooth shave you almost don't feel it cutting hair.

    Keep at it!

Oh yeah, I've used the AoS Sandlewood shaving cream before, and that Sandalwood smell is outstanding, love it!
I'm using DR Harris Lavender, but might look into their Sandalwood line for my next purchase

Welcome to an Older but Better way of shaving. As you have found out it is an art. Keep at it, go slow and enjoy the ride.

It's a long strange trip but well worth the journey.

Good for you. The ice is broken. As another member said watch the angle and pressure and also stretch the skin. Makes a world of difference. Keep it It'll be more fun day after day.
