    Default Surgery and Shaving

I'm scheduled to have surgery on my right middle finger soon. I've been practicing stropping, making and applying lather, washing up and combing my hair afterwards with my left. it's almost comical.
Shaving lefty has never been a problem but this other stuff is a challenge.

I've always been impressed by others' ability to do things like this ambidextrously! I don't even want to think what I'd do to a strop left-handed.

Best of luck both with the surgery and with the practice.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

I'm somewhat ambidextrous, but I know what you mean. I can shave and strop left handed, but I can't make lather left handed without slinging lather every where.
Just keep on laughing your way through the practice.

And good luck with your finger surgery.

Sounds like you need to start training a shaving/stropping/lathering buddy.

First of all, good luck with the surgery Freddie.

When your right middle finger is bandaged and while it's swollen a bit, I'm thinking that this might be a good time to brush up on your creative hand signals.

Good Luck my friend. Going under the knife for even small reasons is hard on an old body!

Practice wiping your rear left handed.

For some reason that is a hard one for myself.

    Good luck with your surgery.

I am right handed. When shaving with a SR, I shave with both hands. I normally lather with my right hand, but probably could do it with my left if necessary. Stropping is another matter. Timing the flip takes precise coordination of the arm, hand , and fingers. If I tried stropping with my left hand, I would damage both the strop and the razor edge, perhaps even injuring myself in the process.

If you have a lot of razors, strop them all before the surgery. Otherwise, you might want to get up a DE and enough blades to get you through the rehab process. If the DE becomes too much to handle, a disposable cartridge razor will get the job done, even if not with the same style.
