Nice one Gino! Very good technique, that must have been quite a close shave. I can only have those type of shaves on Sundays.
I tried your method this morning and have to say I was surprised by the result. Normally I despise Williams puck soap not having much luck with it in the past. It took a bit to create the lather this morning but lather it did. The result was a nice close comfortable 4 pass shave. I am still not a Williams convert but it did go up a notch or two in my book.

I use this technique with soap sticks like Tabac. It is a great way to get a warm lather by using hot water on the brush after applying the soap to my face. It’s wash and it works.
I should add that I did not use hot water being a cold water shaver. I just wetted my face and applied the Williams, as I would any other shave stick, and started with a damp brush adding water as I went.

I'm going to try your lathering method. I typically use a bowl to make lather. I have tons of Williams soap. It's my favorite but have never tried it the way you did it. I'll let you know how it works out...
Thank you guys for your comments it’s very apreciate. Gino
Nice video.. I prefer face lathering and use my pucks in this way too.. And the only way i can get a good lather with Williams is the way you showed... Good job sir...Scott
Bravo!! I've never had problems with the williams and use it once in a while...congrats on the first video mon amis
Oh Papabear 11 - I have been shaving with a straight razor for about 5 years now and have never used the face lathering method. I tried it like I said I would. That was an outstanding method that you showed on your video! Very close 2 pass shave that produced a BBS result. I was leary at first but that was an amazing end result! Very smooth! Thank you for sharing your video. I'm going to keep trying this method and I'm sure I'll get even better results as times goes on. Again Thanks!
I made it about halfway through.
What is the point of brushing so much?
After a certain point things didn't seem to change.
Okay Papabear 11 - I tried your face lathering method again. This time I used my Arco stick, a badger brush and my favorite Robeson (Barbers Pet). Once again a really great result! The next try will be with some Italian Shave soap. That always produces great lather when I mix it in a bowl. We'll see.... I'm beginning to like this face lathering method!
Face lathering with a stick or hard soap seems to me to be much easier than working up a lather in a bowl. It takes less time, uses less soap (I think) and always seems to raise a good lather for me. It also means that when I travel, I can reduce the amount of stuff I have to pack for a good wet shave.
Thanks again for bringing this to everyone’s attention.
I was really surprised on the Williams....
WOW! Welcome to the SR Club! which SR you're using, I have a list of SR for Beginners I love to add yours in the list :)
I used a Wade&Butcher 9/16 made in England Sheffield Steele vintage. It was my first shaving video but not my first time shaving whit a straight, I do have 12 différents straights razors and I don’t need more. I also shave whit DE’s, SE’s and Shavettes, thank’s for watching my video and comenting
Thank you for taking the time to make this video, well done. I might have to give it a go myself!
