    Default My Travel Set Up

On the road this week and figured I'd share my travel set up. Paddle strop, Phoenix Razor, empty Taylor container used as a bowl for lather, brush, and case I made out of elk hide with an antler button for the razor and strop.

Looks like a nice compact set up! Nice leather work too, I wonder what an elk leather strop would be like.

    Nice sheath.

Is your strop plain or pasted on one side. If pasted how do you keep it from getting contaminated from one side to the other?

How do you store your brush and if the bowl is empty how do you store your soap?

32t- It was pasted on one side but I removed the paste. I just roll my brush up in a wash cloth with a rubber band. I've been bringing another bowl of cream along, but need to devise another method for when space is more of an issue.

basil- Thanks! I'm not sure how an elk hide would be as a strop. I think it might depend on how the hide was tanned. I don't really know much about tanning and the different properties of leather. Have always used buckskin for projects from deer I've shot over the years. Haven't elk hunted but had some hide leftover from making mukluks a few years back.

Currently in the truck, I’m getting by with my Merkur DE, a pack of blades, a brush, and a shave stick. As soon as I can get a good edge on the one straight I own, that will replace the DE and blade pack.

I take a sharp Friodur, a tube of Proraso, and some AS. I can get by a few weeks (as far as I have so far). Probably more.
I do palm strop before and after shaves (Makes me feel better!). I used to take a DE, but I prefer a straight much more.
No brush or blades to deal with. Cleanup and dry is easy and fast.
