Back to straights

Due to never ending renovations, I havent really been able to access my straight razors since the end of June. Recently the renos got to the point we were back in our bedroom and I was able to bring the straightrs outta the over cluttered spare room.

My first shave wasnt great just 1 pass no ATG/XTG, it wasnt terrible but I didnt feel confident. Second shave a bit better but still didnt have enough confidence to for ATG/XTG. Third shave I pulled out the big guns my grandfathers Sansouci (excellently restored by Outback) and finally felt like I could truly use a straight again. Today I used pulled out my #2 straing a 4/8 wosty IXL and again got a great shave. I`m not sure iof it was just because those are my 2 favorites but dang it felt good to have "proper" shave again.

Another thing I missed was whipping up a lather in my shave mug with various sopas. During the renos I just face lathered with creams. Nice when in a hurry but I dont get the same relaxing feel doing that.

And no the renos arent done yet!!! But I now no longer have to share a bathroom with the kids and my wife and I have seperate sinks

I bought the house thinking "nice, there's a place for a nice workshop, I could even someday have a backstand in there, maybe a lathe". Right now the workshop is a mess of all the tooling and materials needed for the renovations... There's a mitre saw a pillar drill on the sole workbench, and all the tools I need to restore razors are in their respective boxes.

I was starting to worry about ya, Alan. Funny...I look at the pics of the razor I did for ya, quite often. Great shaver.!!

I didnt even get a workshop and only 1/2 a garage. My motorcycle fits but my Yaris wont, even if I empty it of everything! But I have my own bathroom and soon a special place for my straighte (well probably late spring because I cant do much when there is snow on the groudn as I have to move stuf foputta the garage to get at the tools)
