In my case it is the knees, left shoulder, right elbow and probably the feet but they've been asleep since the chemo, that have all gone before my memory, Shame really as I can still remember a time when I wasn't always in pain

I can relate to that, too.
I wouldn't have ever called getting old...the golden years. Should have been called the corrosion years, cause everything is falling apart.

Being a trucker, my knees are the first to go. Had meniscus surgery on my left knee, but I may go for the full replacement in the not too distant future.

Yep, employer is switching to all automatic transmission trucks. Seems that these days, autos are cheaper than manuals. As much as I get dispatched into/through Chicago, I'm not complaining at all.

Getting old sucks but the other option isn't so great either.

Seems like I aged slowly until about 75. Since then it has sped up each year. Guess I am on the down hill slope. Watch out below.

Several years ago I had a chance to work with teachers in Bhutan. As part of my prep for teaching a unit on statistics, I did some research on life expectancy using their census data. At that time, the average lifespan of a Bhutanese male was less than 55 years. I did not expect that, given what we know from the same kind of data in North America. Puts things in perspective.

I turn 71 tomorrow and fully expect to be around for a while longer even with the corona virus.
