    Default A first for me

Today, I'd picked out a razor that I haven't used in two or four years. A 11/16 Crown and Sword, that I knew had been finished on a 12k Naniwa SS. Now...I don't care much for a synthetic edge, anymore. Its just a bit crisp for my liking, even after a crap pile of leather, don't like it.!

So I threw in a layer of tape, and put a few skips across my, B/G Barbers Delight, directly, took it for a shave.

Prep, √ Lather, √ Shave.... Something's not there, shave comfortable, close, no red, no sting at all, from the Platinum AS. oooh well.!! Let's get things cleaned up and give this blade a quick......it hits me..

IDIOT..!! YOU FORGOT TO STROP IT, BEFORE THE SHAVE.!!

Honestly, I've never done that before. But it goes to show ya, how after so many years, sometimer's disease, really is the precursor to Alzheimer's. Won't be long now..
    And I won't care

Rereading the original post, I noticed a comment about tape. What's the general opinion on taping a spine for honing? I've read it can affect the angle of the edge.

This can be a very controversial topic. Search for tape vs no tape in the search box and you'll find a gut full of info.

Protects the spine and has been ‘proven’ to have no material effect to angle, bevel and ultimately the razor’s longevity
I prefer to tape the spine
