As the days go by, my shaves improve nicely but, are still taking a long time (about 20 minutes).
Be honest now... How long do your shaves take? Don't include prep time etc.
Note: This is not a contest and I don't recommend that anyone sacrifices safety in the name of expedience.
If I don't include prep it would be 5 to 10 minutes max.!Quote:

It depends, I can get a very comfortable shave in 5 minutes which is my norm, but for extra close (not quiet BBS yet) I could spend 20.
Without prep I spend a maximum of 5 min.s on the face, and somewhere between 7-10 minutes to do the head. (And I have the scars to prove it ;) )

Shiiiiit. Some of you guys are super fast! About half an hour... without prep. Although I think last time I got it in twenty minutes, so I'm improving.

I can shave in 10-15 minutes. If I have time, I go slower and enjoy the time.

It takes me about 15 mins. the actual shaving pocess. But I shower, then use a hot towel, then the lather. So all together about half an hour for it all.
I lathered my face (instant wet brush to soap to face work) and stropped about 10-15 laps and did a quick one-pass shave within the span of less than 3 minutes easy (same song was on my ipod while I started and finished).
Surprisingly it was a pretty good shave for one pass and maybe 30 seconds of lather prepping my beard.
I think since I shaved so quick I never gave the lather time to reduce it's lubrication effect and that offset the lack of care in taking my time.
5-10 minutes, but sometimes I just like to have a leisurely shave.
I can shower and be out the door in 30-40 minutes. Dressed even.

It depends.
If I set out to enjoy my shave, I take a shower, clip my nails, lather up, strop, shave, lather, shave, lather, shave, clean the blade, rinse face and put on aftershave.
That can take up to 40 minutes.
Otoh if my wife says 'first you need to get a shave' it goes a lot faster than that :D
Depends on how close I want to get. For BBS, it will take me about 30-40 minutes. For a one pass, 5-10 minutes
I'm in the 10-15 range after a shower. I strop 20 times before the shower and at least 10 more after I get out while heating up the soap and mug with hot water. Than it's lather up and scrap it off, repeat :D
I guess the standard is about 10 to 15 or so. That's were I'm at and probably were I'll stay. I find that it's enough time to the job done and still long enough to enjoy the ritual of it.

About 20 minutes I guess. It is getting faster which is great because it gives me more time to play with my prep these days. Virtually every shave in the last several months has been born by my W&B workhorse. 20 minutes is also about what I've spent honing it since the new year.

I'd prefer 25 next time. Beats the heck out of the quick-pass speed shave I've had to do a few times this week.
Most days, 15 minutes, including prep and cleanup. However, a couple of days a week, when I have an extra few minutes to get ready, I go a bit extra on the prep (like whipping up warm lather in my "trailer park" warming scuttle), which stretches the entire process out to about 20 minutes at most. All in all, with the shower, I'm getting dressed after about 20-25 minutes in the bathroom.

When I'm shaving with the straight, it's to get than insane closeness they're known for. My brain can't seem to convince my hand that a "passable" shave is something I can leave the bathroom with in the morning. If I took that approach, yeah, I'd be done in five or ten minutes. But I generally drag it out, so I'm taking twenty or twenty-five minutes to get an excellent shave when I do it.
Average is 10-15 minutes with 2 passes today in 12 minutes and change. I never figured that the third pass will improve things enough to risk the total face fillet.:nono: As things stand with 2 passes the parts are smooth enough and blood loss is minimal.

I typically do a BBS shave 6 days a week...12 minutes from steping out of the shower to out of the bathroom (shave, teeth, the works). On those rare occasions when I'm truely rushed, I can do an acceptable one-pass and be out of the bathroom in about 6 minutes, but would not recommend this for the neophyte or the faint of heart as without intense concentration it is possible to leave spare body parts in the sink ;) .

If they indeed are spare parts, you have nothing to worry about. I checked recently and feel that none of mine are spares yet, thus I try to take it a bit slower around the curves and under the overhangs.:D

As they used to say on the Burger King commercial, "parts is parts". If I slice it off and it falls into the sink, it's extraneous. For those long on the boards, Josh has tried to sever his ear, Bill almost took off his hand, and Rich keeps implying that his manhood is in danger... Me, the worst I've done is to excise a mole in a moment of inattention. It's all good, the scar is easier to shave over :p

I will lather up before applying the hot towel and steam my face with a hot towel for at least 2 minutes (sometimes 4). I than reapply lather and shave. I usually take about 20 - 30 minutes on 2 passes. I stopped trying to speed up my time because this is one of the more enjoyable moments in the days schedule and I find it very therapeutic. This is kind of MY TIME. If I have a busy schedule the next day, I'll just shave the night before really well.
10 minutes without prep. It drives my wife crazy :-)
Unlike most people, I shave in the shower...an old Marine habit :-)~
I would have to agree on this one. Two months ago it used to take me 30min for for a WTG pass only. Now I am staying a round 20min for WTG and XTG but enjoying every second of it.Quote:
