Can't work out what the problem is.

I'm generally quite happy with the shaves I get now but one problem is puzzling me. Using two good quality razors. One feels sharper than the other.

Shaving with the sharper feeling one, the beard feels as if it is cut easily, especially around the chin area. However, I'm almost always left with a few minor nicks despite the comfortable shave.

Shaving with the blunter feeling razor, the sides are fine but the razor pulls noticably around the chin. However, I almost never cut myself with this one.

I'm stumped, to be honest. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

I am having the same. If your blade is really sharp you'll easily nick small bumps and irregular skin surface areas. It just comes with sharpness. The longer you use it the less the problem in my experience.

+1. The sharper blade is exactly what you want to have every shave. The avoidance of nicks will come with practice.

It sounds like the problem is that at least one of your razors is not sharp enough, and you are not using light enough pressure when using the sharper one. You should only glide the razor across your skin, it should not be pushed in to your skin.

Yea,sharp is sharp. A razor should be as sharp as possible. As the razor gets duller the chances for mishaps increases because you start using pressure to compensate. Some people mistake a rough edge for a too sharp blade. If the blade is rough due to microchips or other defects you may increase the chances of nicks as you shave. Remember the razor should be doing all the work it doesn't need any help from you. You are just holding it and guiding it around your face. Its like flying an airplane. Once your crusing it basically flies itself if you keep fiddling with it all you do is get yourself into trouble.

Being a pilot, that really made sense and made a difference to my shave today! Are you another aviator? I'm sure I've come across at least a couple on here already.

Officially no, unofficially yes if that makes sense. I learned many years ago on seaplanes but never bothered to get a license.
