    Default There will be Blood!!!

After fiteen plus years of straight razor shaving, I bled like a stuck pig! I just worked up an 1850's-60's Wade and Butcher wedge. Nice razor. After breadknifing the edge to remove two chips, I went through a sharpening progression that got me close to 'shave ready'. The razor was almost 'ready'.
After making a first pass, I made a second. On the second pass, I ran the blade along my thumb to check the lather to see how many new hairs were present and put a nice new cut on my thumb! Who cuts their thumb straight razor shaving?

Well, don't feel bad. A couple of weeks ago I cut my earlobe. How many decades using a straight and I cut my earlobe?

I cut my earlobe early in my straight journey. It was a small cut, but the blood ran for hours! Shortly after, I watched Reservoir Dogs. The scene in which Michael Madson cuts off the cops ear played, and all I could think was "there ain't nearly enough blood in this scene". His nice white shirt should've been shiny red, if my ear cutting experienced proved anything.

At least you know you did a great job honing the razor.

Razor cuts can bleed profusely, but they seldom hurt and rarely leave scars.
I hope it was not so bad as to need stitches.

Ha, I cut my chin seriously bad when I was about a week in and thought I had this down good. No stitches but it left quite a scar.

But hey, chicks love scars. That and some black leather and yer all set.

I have so many scars from other misadventures I couldn't begin to tell what is from shaving and what isn't.
