Maybe I shouldn't do Straight Razors!!!

Okay, this evening I am sitting at my kitchen counter honing my Col. Conk Solingen on my 12000 grit waterstone, when the EARTHQUAKE hits.

No shit. I live in the SF Bay Area, and the house starts shaking and I hear the rumble. This is probably a 4.5 at least.

So, first thoughts? Get the f out of the house. Second thought? Don't nick the edge of the razor, and don't run with it open. So, I move quickly toward the back door, closing the razor as I move.

Now I am outside watching the trees and telephone poles do their little finish-up swaying, and listening to the neighbors yelling at each other over the fences. At least the power hasn't gone out.

What if I had been shaving??????

Aw what the hell. It's good practise for when I have to shave on my sailboat.

sounds like a good plan! if only we had more earthquakes here for sailing practice. unfortunately being in the great white north my boat is been out of the water for 3 weeks already:cry:

C'mon, that's probably the most badass thing there is. Not only are you shaving with a straight, but getting BBS (well, someday) in an earthquake!

My daughter at UC Berkeley informs me it was a 5.6-- the most powerful here in San Jose since Loma Prieta in 1989.
