How long does it take?
Just curious to see how long it takes for people to shave with a straight razor. I'm still pretty new to shaving with them but I've found it takes usually about an hour for me to shave, that includes 2 passes, stropping, making the lather and some hot towels inbetween for a min or so.
-
I generally take 45 minutes for 3 passes, but have had acceptable 1 pass shaves in 15 minutes when I was running behind, or just needed to clean up.
A good BBS can stay clean and smooth for up to 12-16 hours for me, and still looks acceptable usually until the middle or end of the next day... A 1 pass ATG touch up can extend this for even longer.

I have a goatee, so my shaves are a bit quicker - I usually do a With and Against the Grain (WTG and ATG) pass in under 5 minutes. Prep. and cleanup adds another 5 minutes I'd say.

Shaving is so enjoyable I think most of us wished it took an hour or longer. Actually from start to finish it takes me about 15 minutes. When I first started as I recall 45 minutes was what it took.

It only takes me 15 minutes but for some dumb reason I sit there for atleast another 5 just buffing, checking the face, getting really, really close, etc. So, I guess I"ll have to say 20.

Not counting my shower first, about 20-25mins when taking my sweet time for 3 full passes but I do wear a mustache. About 8mins if I'm in a hurry and only need to *look* presentable for work instead of *feel* presentable to swmbo. :D Note, brush soaking is done while having the shower and stropping is not included as I take care of that whenever I have the time so it might be sometime during the day when the thought of which razor to use next comes up.

about 15 minutes, not including shower time, but I also alternate between a goatee and a van dyke.

Beard preparation, stropping, shaving WTG and ATG, aftershave and cleaning the blade and brush: a bit less then 20 minutes. I sport a moustache, so that might save me some time.

15 minutes also exclusive of shower.
