it really depends on the individual,,my experience, it took me about 5 or 6 shaves before I was happy, then I got real good shortly after that.
If I remember correctly , I think it took around 30 shaves , for me .
That's very subjective.. The more you learn the harder you try to get a BBS shave. Most people start getting decent ones within a week and they become reasonably proficient after a couple of months.
It depends on where you are at the moment. But to become proficient, I would say a month or two (given you shave 4 times a week).
I started in October 2007. After 6 months, I am still learning.
To the touch, things have still margin for improvement.
However, to the eye, things have looked better than ever before, right from day one.
I think it will take me another year to consider myself no longer an apprentice. I shave 2 to 3 times a week.
The YMMV statement is really king when it comes to this. The old shaving manuals said it will take 6months to a year to be truly proficient. It took me about 6 months but I was getting reasonable shaving after a few weeks.
Personally I think your a rookie until you have 5 years under your belt, then your a journeyman.
