yea unless your the man of steel and need a razor fashioned from Kryptonite you should be not needing to touch up every three shaves. I'd be really looking at stropping and honing techniques.
Kryptonite! Ha! Actually the big mistake I corrected to get my honing down to once a month was using too much pressure, both during stropping and shaving. Also worth mentioning; my GF tells me I have become unbelievably obsessive about having a perfect shave. So a shave that I thought was pretty good a year ago is completely unacceptable today. But I'm not obsessed. Just...uh...ENTHUSIASTIC! Yeah, that's it. Enthusiastic.:roflmao If I weren't quite so enthusiastic, I could probably hold off on the touch-up for a week. But I like having a perfect shave every single time.
Anyway, after experimenting some more, I have concluded that I really like the silky smooth polished edge that chrome oxide gives. It results in a very comfortable shave. So I'm going to keep the oxide, even if it means I have to periodically take some steel off to restore the bevel to flat.
