HELP! What to use on cuts?

Just tried my feather with professional super blades (as recommended) and of course got cut up.

Most notably a 2 incher on cheek below side burn.

What do you guys put on cuts so they don't scar!? It's a very shallow one but pretty damn long. do cuts like this typically scar?!? :gaah:

I have only gotten superficial nicks with a straight so never really payed attention to healing of larger cuts.

I temporarily put on baxters after shave balm. (antiseptic with alum in it.)

styptic pencil. if the cut is shallow, it will not scar.

I have heard of guys getting scared but never had it happen to me. I just rub it down with alum and go about my business. besides dueling scars just make you look dashing!!!!:jedi:

What is the appropriate method of applying the alum block or styptic pencil? Just wet the area and rub away?

Very disappointed in the shave I had. Usually the sharper the better with my sensitive skin but got this cut and some bloody razor burn :mad:

I use alum after every shave right after I rince my face in cold water and before I dry it. the sting help you improve your technique..

I wet the pencil to get it soft, and the gently trace the cut with it.

If anyone asks I just tell them my scars were from the time I was attacked by a lunatic with a razor...I just don't mention the fact that it was me holding the razor. :w

There are a couple products that you can buy at the pharmacy that are supposed to minimize scarring. I don't remember the names (I think one is called Mederma) but you can find them in the section that carries antibiotic ointments...or ask the pharmacist as I'm sure they'll be able to point you in the right direction. They are a little pricey (about 3 times the price of Neosporin).

best product on the market by far (and the most useful) isn't a razor specific or even cut specific product. it is De-ionized Silver (also called calloidal silver, but not silver nitrate!), ie Super Silver, Sovereign Silver, et al. it is basically broken down silver particles in reverse osmosis water. silver has been known for thousands of years to be one of the most effective antibiotics, antifungal, and antiviral substances on the market. what does this do for your scar. it just allows your body to heal itself without infection and inflamation which would cause scars. i actually own and manage a health food store and it is one of our best products. that isn't a sales pitch either, i swear. i have been using the stuff for everything from burns, to cuts, to razor burn for years and it always works. my dad actually crushed the end of his finger off at work just missing the bone and being the stubborn guy that he is didn't use his prescription (which i am not necessarily recommending) and just squirted silver water on it every hour or so and in one week the skin had grown over and to this day you would never know it happened.

so that is 11 total cases reported ever. almost all of which were either using homemade silver water. if you do the research you'll find that hospitals are required to keep silver solution on hand as there are certain bacterias that they can't kill any other way. this is very true and the threat of argyria is not. every product that i have come across is is very well researched and tested. i know i won't convince you by just typing what i know so do the research as it will speak for itself. just please go a little deeper then the headline news articles as they tend to look for shock value. thanks.

I tend to scar easily, and I also seem to cut my right jaw with the atg pass often too. I used the styptic pencil as soon as I cut myself. After it healed(the scab went away), I was left with a red line. It's faded pretty well with over the counter scar cream.

I've also always heard cocoa butter works great. To be honest, I hate the slimy feel of it. That's why I went with the over the counter stuff, but I think I'm just going to get some cocoa butter once this tube runs out or stops working.

I just keep shaving, once I'm done, I splash rubing alcohol on my face, rinse it off with some water, and rub on that Niva lotion (in the white bottle). If in a hurry, I take one of my bandanas, wet it and keep dabing the spot till I get to work. Usually by then, it has stoped bleeding, and I can just rub off the clogged blood sopt.

It happens once a while, usually when I'm in a rush, but don't let it push you away from shaving with a straight.

I use the styptic pencil. It is very rare to cut myself, but last weekend I managed to get myself a nice little scar below the corner of my mouth. It looks kind cool. Gives that "mean" look :rock:
But not to worry, my scars heal fast and in a matter of days the scar will be gone.
If the scar were a little more near the corner of the mouth, I'd look like Joker :D
