New blade, second shave - not too shabby!

Well, this morning I shaved with my newly aquired Wapi, only my second ever shave and it was fantastic! What an experience! and what a blade! I came away with a few minor nicks and my neck was very red for about an hour but I did it - I shaved and removed hair! I even went against the grain in some areas including my cheeks, upper lip and chin and the shave was really really smooth! I’ve really got to hone my technique now (no pun intended) as my neck is nowhere near as smooth as it could be - I’ve planned my next shave already, with a few tweaks I think I’ll get a lot closer. I never thought I’d be so excited over waking up in the morning :D. I’m going to have to get myself a strop pretty quickly! Although I have a nice leather belt that will do the trick for now I think :).

Well done mate .Try using a slightly shallower angle & a light touch next time. You wont remove all the stubble in one go but this will reduce the irritation.Paul

Just wanted to let you know that stropping on newspaper has been mentioned before on the forum while you wait to get a strop. I personally have not tried it, so I can't say whether it works or not, but just in case your leather belt doesn't maybe you could give it a try.

Great job Nath!! Remember that hair removal is in steps. You won't go BBS on the frist pass. I do two with the grain passes and then one across the grain pass. (I can't go against the grain because I end up with ingrown hairs). Take your time, and once you think you have this thing mastered is when you will get your first real nice cut, because you let your guard down. Never disrespect the blade.
