You should really do that also.I think that a shower and/or hot towel is essential for getting a good shave.I would also recomend using a pre shave. But then again many guys on this forum don't use it.
Good luck

Personally, I would at least take a hot shower.
I shave most of the time in the evening and shower in the morn so when it comes time to shave I give my face a good hot wash (nothing special just normal soap) then lather up and shave. I have done the hot towel thing and on weekends I shave when I get out of the shower. For me there is not to much of a difference, but on the same note I do not have a real heavy beard. Well I don't think that helped much but maybe.
It might work well enough if you've got light growth, but it won't quite "do a good job" for most men. Take the time to do it right and enjoy yourself. I mean, why not? That's why we're here, innit?

I just added two different examples of preparation in the wiki . Check out the different combinations and try what you like.
Good stuff, Tony. Thank you.
For the ultimate in closeness and comfort a hot towel is best.
Now having said that a decent shave can be had with whatever is at hand. I have shaved with lukewarm water and shave cream applied by hand (without a brush)...in the end it's just a matter of how much you want to "pamper" yourself. :gl:
