When I started, I used the right hand only. I wanted to try the left and it was weird the first two times. However, by the 5th day I had it 90% down. Just take it slow and it comes really quick.

right hand only shaver here...:D :w
My first couple of shaves were only with my right hand and it felt weird not only because I was just learning but it was not comfortable to bend and twist my right hand the way I was. When I tried to use both hands that also was a weird feeling but it was more comfortable and it was very easy to do it that way now. i don't think I could go back to only using my right hand even if I tried.
I can do most things, except write neatly, with either hand easliy enough. Some activities are easier with the left, some with the right. When I started using a straight, i simply went at it with both hands & have learnt a lot. Some angles/ places require use of one or other hand. For instance, I always do my cheeks with the same sided hand & stretch with the opposite, but my top lip is a reverse job.
That said, I am shaving with my right hand only at this point, having dislocated my left shoulder a week or so back. You would not believe the improvement in my single pass shave & not to mention stretching.
So I have a few straight shaves under my belt now. With the great advice in this thread, the left hand is getting a bit more practice. Brushing teeth, etc.
The part I keep having a hard time with the left hand is now mostly from the left sideburn. When I place the razor there, for the life of me, I keep blocking my view to the mirror with my hand and the handle of the blade! Then, as I try to angle the blade, I keep whacking my glasses further screwing up my view to the mirror.
But, my last shave was worlds better than my first shave, so I am definitely making progress.
I do have some ambidexterity, that helps.
I tried using my left hand more when using my DE.
Now I have 2 straight shaves and so far the left did as well as the right.
Miloh, the first thing I noticed was blocking the view just like you said. I angled my head a bit. The next time I went back to Lynn's video and noticed how he angled his head, check it out.
