I'm having trouble getting a good view while trying to shave the area just where my sideburn ends. It seems the razor is in my direct line of sight and I cannot see where the razor should be placed. Anyone have suggestions?

I like using Spanish point razors to trim around my sideburns and mustache.
I would rotate your head towards or away from the mirror
until you can see what you need to. This just takes practice
and a bit of experimentation -- don't worry if it seems a bit
tricky at first, it will come!

Most of us who have been doing this for some time will tell you we pretty much shave by feel so we really don't have to see. As I recall when I started I used my finger just rear of the razor as a guide.
You can also just shave it XTG there, which gets the blade out of the way.
+1 on that. I had the same issue" I've got long sideburns too" , but after some head maneuvering I was able to see what I was shaving. Experiment with this and see how it works for you. Jeremy-Quote:

I turn my head a little bit and place the tip of razor direct to the sideburns at the 90 degrees angle.
Razor at the same hand than the side what I'm shaving i.e. right hand and right side of the face.
Then I start the gently stroke and scoop at the same time. The scooping motion turn the angle into 30 degree.
I get pretty close using the above mentioned techniques, but every 2 to three days I draw the line exactly where I want it with a sharpie. After the shave I use my wet towel to clean up the shave soap dish and use that extra soap to wash off the lines.
I've often wondered if I'm the only one here that does that but didn't want to start a thread. :shrug:

The result you are looking for might depend on the length of the hair on your sideburns. I can get one side of my face using my right hand without any problems. I keep my hair fairly short and I can usually get away with trimming the other side with an xtg stroke. I bet if I started using my other hand this problem would fix itself.
For a while I had no problem seeing where the razor and my sideburns lined up on the right side of my face, but couldn't on my left. I can see it on both sides now by just angling my head. It took a lot of practice and it honestly felt very awkward trying to properly see my face while shaving my left side (I'm right handed BTW), but with practice everything becomes easier!
I finally figured it out last night. Instead of looking above the blade I look below it... if that makes sense. Thanks everyone!
