pre-shave oil
I'm wondering, for those who have tried a pre-shave oil, do you notice a dramatic improvement with and without? I just started using True Gentlemen's pre-shave and shave cream (which is excellent by the way). I tried putting the pre-shave on half my face and can't really say that i noticed a big difference with or without.
I'm wondering if I should even expect a big difference? or is it just a poor pre-shave?
input appreciated.

I can only tell you I use Both Prorasso pre shave cream and creamo creme. I have noticed a big difference when using them. I haven't heard anything about True Gentleman.

I've used the eShave pre-shave oil. I can't tell much of a difference if I use it or not when I perform really good prep. Lots of hot water plus good soap or cream makes for an easy shave.

Hot water, and lots of it, is my best friend.

I have tried several of the pre-shaves including the Art Of Shaving version. At first I thought there might be a little better glide with it, but after many shaves and the different brands, I really can't tell much of a difference. Lynn

I have used pre-shave oil and it helps the glide, but nothing great. I found out about Proraso Pre/Post and I like that much better. Jeff

The Prorasso, and the Cremo Cream from ClassicShaving are what I use. The Cremo Cream is designed to be used alone, as a shaving cream, and works exceptionally well. But when used as a pre-shave underlayer, with the brush/cake soap over the top, it is outstanding!
The oils I have tried left me unimpressed, and one left my badger hair brush fairly gunked-up.
