I get the smoothest result if I shave every day, but the comfiest shave if I shave every 2-3 days.
I just let my work schedule dictate how often I shave, usually winds up being 4-5 times a week.

Gents,
I find the better results after at least two days, not able to let it go longer at work as we have to be able to get a face seal on our gas masks (work in a nickel refinery, H2s, ammonia gas etc, ver healthy!!!) At home on days off I go 3 days, till impatience gets me, but basically longer beard gives me a better shave. Every day doesn't work because I guess I don't get my razors sharp enough to avoid a shave rash.
Cheers

I'm (was) right there with David :)
worked from home, didn't have to shave every day, etc. and I did find a week's growth shave to be a really great experience.
Every razor feels smoother, and it is more work but very enjoyable, much more so than daily shaves for me.
Cheers
Ivo
I've always found I get the best shave at about 3 days growth. These days, though, I'm enjoying my shaving too much to wait that long.
I'm in the once every 36 hours camp. When I was using cartridges it was definitely a case of the longer I left it, the better the shave. With a straight, particularly since I acquired the lighter touch, it doesn't really seem to make that much difference. The 36 hours just being the point at which I need a shave again as opposed to about 12 hours after a cartridge. Seriously, I used to spend most of my life looking like I needed a shave.
