First time shaving off the Full Goatee

So I applaud all you gents that shave under the nose and your chin each and every day. My wife asked if I would shave my Goatee for the first time in like 5 years...:eek:

Well It took me a good 45 mins to shave. The lather was fine i think...like normal...but i think the razor was a bit dull because it pulled a little even on my cheeks, could have been my angle...could have just been an off day:shrug:...but boy was it hard to get under that nose for the first time and against the grain forget that $h!t. :medvl:haha. i did with and against and then a bit of touch up. Came out ok..far from BBS but ok. Wow my face feels weird.

Also I have what my wife calls a BUTT CHIN. :thinking: My chin has a crease in it running n-s and it is tough to shave that depression.

So again I applaud all those shaving there upper lip and chins daily...:bow

Bravo, my friend. ATG on the upper lip is overkill IMO. Of course I'm still pretty new to this, but I'm perfectly comfortable WTG on that area.

The upper lip and chin are the hardest areas to shave IMO. So congrats on having your first shave there :tu. I don't do any ATG passes on that area (or the rest of my face for that matter) as I find XTG to be more than sufficient for me.

It took me longer than the rest of my face to get to the stage where I was confident shaving that area, so don't feel bad for having a tough time the first time. I have found a sharp razor to be of the uttermost importance for shaving the upper lip and chin. I have found this for a few reasons: 1) I grow tougher whiskers there, 2) The direction of my beard is highly variable in that area and 3) There are a lot of curves, and everyone's face is different.

You should stay clean shaven! You'll be surprised how much easier it'll get when you shave that area more frequently, you'll technique will quickly evolve.

I had a goatee what I started str8 razor shaving. Then I shaved the goatee off and discovered how difficult shaving the chin was. I left the mustash so I don't ever have to deal with the lip. I will never shave my mustash! What I do, though is shave the entire chin area with a DE on the 1st pass. No, I am not a purest. If the best job catching a fish is using a worm, I'll use the worm, not a fly. What I mean is that I will finish with my straight on the 2nd pass, and by doing the DE on the 1st pass, I get the absolute best shave. And that's what I am looking for!! :)

Thanks Guys. I will stay shaven for a while but definately will grow back the goatee...i like it i dont care much for how i look clean shaven. at least not now at 25...maybe when i am older.

the chin will only work for me when my razor is at its sharpest ie. right after stroping, i start there all three passes and finish my shave. the upper lip is covered by a 30 year old mustash when i saw it last i was in my 20s

nice one, the chin is the most awkward part of my shave, but generally the most rewarding.

I do ATG every where as a matter of course, once you've done it once or twice it's just part of the routine.

thats awesome...not even a shave just to start fresh and let the skin breath.

I did notice i got a few little pimple like things under my lower lip from the shave...i think i was going to hard and the razor wasnt quite sharp enough.
