Does anyone use a 3/8 blade? I wondered if the narrower blade would make it easier to keep a better angle above the top lip and work around moles etc.

Not that small. Ive a 4/8 wedge thats great for the mo area though.
I had one, a Puma. Did not like it at all (I was not aware it was that narrow when I bought it), but it would have done the job you described perfectly.
Yeah, I'vg ot a 3/8. It's a HOPPE from germany.
This was one of the first blades i got. I tried it once, it's ok., but i like 4/8's to 6/8's better. For the upper lip area it is definetly a good blade, but do You want to change blade when You shave?

I've found smaller blades require more of an expert hand than bigger blades such as 6/8. The reason, I think, for this is that the smaller the blade, the more accurate your manipulating of the angle needs to be on such a small scale. I have a 4/8 Henckels that I like a lot, but I like my 6/8 Bengal and 7/8 Joseph Rodgers and Sons Wedge a lot more.
I use a 4/8s on a regular basis and I have a 2/8s which is too small. I just can't keep a good grip on it. Small razors like the 3/8s and 2/8s were really made for trim work not so much for shaving the complete face. However if you have small hands and it works well for you there's nothing wrong with using it for general shaving.
I have 3/8 Heljestrand I use for trimming nose hairs mostly. I've tried full shaves with it, but my preference really does run to a heavier blade.

I use a couple of 4/8s often, I enjoy using smaller blades, my 6/8 is my least used razor - even though it's got a fantastic edge.
I had a 3/8 but I sold it because I was lazy, I think that it might have been a little too small.
I use a Dovo 3/8ths on my wife. It's great for maneuvering around in detail-oriented environments.
