It only took one second.....

......for me to learn that not all razors that can slice skin are "shave-ready", but a razor that is "shave-ready" definitely slices skin!

I don't even know what happened....I thought I was paying attention the whole time....I was completely aware of it happening while it was happening....it was almost like I saw it in slow motion but couldn't do anything about it. It ended up only being a small 1/4 to 1/2 inch slice near my upper cheekbone.

It doesn't hurt at all and didn't even hurt when it happened...just stung a little bit - especially when I splashed water on it. I was so thankful that cold water was enough to stop it, b/c I did NOT want to use the styptic!

Just thought I would share.

I will pay even more attention next time, I can guarantee you that!

I said the same thing--I just hit my face at slightly the wrong angle and ZING, there's a bright line of red. "Man, I'Ve gotta be careful about that!" 4 days later, not a half inch from the first, another.

Razors are really, REALLY sharp. Funny how that works, ain't it?

Just got my razor back from Utopian...

Yeah, these things are some kind of sharp. I got a nice little cut on my neck, off center of my throat a little bit and about two inches long. Only about a quarter inch of it bled, but the rest was like a paper cut, so on went the styptic :cry: .

I must have moved the blade to my neck too fast...My girlfriend didn't really see the manly side of this, like I did.

That's the thing. Razor sharp doesn't really hurt when you cut skin... afterwords though is when the pain begins, lol. I haven't done much more than paper cut type cuts thankfully but I never even realize that I did it besides the quick sting or feeling of the blade catching or dragging wrong. And yeah cold water does wonders for cuts like that... probably because they are such clean cuts.

i did the same thing about 2 months ago in the exact same spot. totally caught me by surprise. i hadn't cut myself like that in a long time so i was a little angry. my g/f was doing her make up beside me saying "calm down" but it sucked. the scar is almost totally gone now. it healed up pretty quick but my dad has been razzing me about it for a while, he uses a DE i bought him and whenever i cut myself he won't let me forget it.

It was the first time a cut like that happened to me on my face...I got one on my finger a little while back, but never my face. I was so angry at myself!

It's funny, I always hear members saying that super-ultra sharp blades are the worst for cuts. It's been my experience that a dulling razor seems to nick me the most - I'm not talking about duller than dull blades, but blades that still have an edge that are ready for a touchup. If I see weepers (and get some pulling) that's usually the time for a few laps on the hone. The sharp edges never seem to make me bleed.

Tip-- Resist the temptation to try to use the "tip" of the razor to trim a spot. That's how I got my 1/4 in scar on my chin... keep it flat and mostly // on the strokes and you'll be fine-- haven't had a serious nick since that incident (well, ok, every now and then I nick the part of my ear that sticks out nearest my cheek-- anybody else??)

Once in a while I'll cut myself, and it's exactly as you describe You see it before you feel it, but by then it's too late.
