Ok my silvertip is having a hard time soaking up water like it used to. I've seen you guys briefly mention a borax soak, etc. When I submerse it in hot water, I can see little air bubbles all over the bristles; it seems to be a soap scum thing. I know I shouldn't spray it with bathroom cleaner, but could you guys elaborate on a method to get it going again? Thanks

My understanding is that the Borax soak should put things back in proper order.

Some time back , using Prell shampoo was recommended.
Check out shavemyface.com also. they are big on brushes.

Good point. Using shampoo should be perfectly safe, afterall, it is hair!

I gave it a good shampooing this morning, we'll see how that works after it dries. I'll probably still grab some of that stuff from Ray, it sounds exactly like what I need. Thanks all.
The shampoo seems to have done the trick. I used Dove I think, whatever she has in the shower. At soaked up right quickly.
Besides a mild shampoo (hello, Johnsons), a follow-up with a simple hair conditioner will leave your brush better smelling and renew it's action ..... Hey, badger hair is, well, hair!
