Like many, I find that shaving elsewhere other than the face is something that I do regularly and maintain. Now I have not yet invested into a straight razor yet nor a safety razor and still shave with a Gillette Fusion razor. I must confess, for other areas of the body, I am not quite sure how proficient/safe safety or straight razors are but this cartridged razor does work fairly well, and does not cause any real irritation. What do you fellas think?
Ok if you are talking about manscaping a straight will work very well. Chest, arms, legs, etc... You will of course have to be careful as you would when shaving your face.
If you are refereing to shaving the genital region,:dropjaw:
I would air a great deal of caution! I myself would NOT attempt that. :nono:
The skin must be taught, and there would be too many curves to navigate safely.
Just be careful.
And if you cut your self, don't think happy thoughts!

To many, this is a fairly basic and courteous form of grooming. :P
Holding a straight razor anywhere near your meat and two vegs holds the door open for ... unfortunate accidents. I would strongly advice against it. :nono:
However, there was some talk about such things in the "Project Coochie Razor" thread.
Any word on other areas such as chest?
I keep my cartridge razors around for just this purpose.
I've been straight shaving for a few weeks now but still use the disposables on the chest and nether regions. I don't think I'd ever use a straight on the latter, but the chest should be possible. Though the valley between the chest muscles could prove difficult. Maybe I give it a go any time some and let you know how it went.

Works better than a disposable, on account of the blade not getting so all clogged up. So I hear tell.
I haven't started using a straight yet, but plan to keep my Mach 3 around for elsewheres, probably indefinitely.
I have shave my chest and abs numerous times with my straights...it is actually easier to me, than my face. As for the nethers...ive done it once and although it was successful, i was a mental mess afterwards. lol

Now what about safety razors for chest and down stairs? It seems like it would be a better choice... again, doesn't seem like it would clog or get stuck full of hair.
Maybe you guys can help me out a little here. I can see shaving your back, and your chest and abs if they are hairy. I can see shaving your legs (I understand it makes them cooler in the summer). I can even understand trimming your pubes to be shorter if they are particular bushy (wouldn't want to poke anyones eyes out), but I just don't understand why anyone would want to shave "elsewheres".
Short answer: Some people really like it. REALLY. I was involved with a young lady that didn't really care if it was shaved down there or not. But lets just say if it was, that was appreciated to a degree that has me blushing nearly 20 years later just thinking about it.Quote:

a nice DE works well in the lower areas of the male anatomy as for the straight tried it once and all I have to say is this DON'T DO IT MAN one little slip and....... well everythig is still there but its not nice. I shave the back of my neck without a mirror without any problems. I would think anywhere else would be fine. Even for the bait and tackle I think that you'd be alright. Granted, you may get a nick but if you're careful it's probably gentler than electric clippers for trimming (the idea of a machined blade is less controlled than a human controlled edge). Not to mention if you're using enough pressure that you'd actually cut something off then your technique isn't refined enough to be shaving your bits anyways (unless you have a wirebeard lol).
Well, I"m married and my wife has never been at risk of poking her eyes out. However, I had to shave the family jewels myself when I got my vasectomy and I was very nervous using a twin blade cartridge razor. When the hairs grew back it was itchy down there until they got some length. It's not something I would want to do on a regular basis.Quote:

You could do it, it's fine. I don't shave my nether regions whatsoever but have shaved all the other parts of my body with a straight razor just fine. It can shave hairy armpits in a single sweep w/o clogging. Very nice.
When I first started looking at s8razor shaving I wondered what did women do about shaving their legs and under arms before the invention of the safety razor. I guess I kinda have a close idea now.

I don't shave below the collarbone, but if I did, I'm sure I'd use my straight to do it. I am *far* more confident with a straight than I am with a DE, disposable, etc., and I've never nicked myself less. For a job requiring special precision, I can't imagine using anything else - thought that was the whole point of using straight razors in the first place. :confused:

I have done several rooster shaves with a straight. No problems at all.
Word to the wise... don't use a spike point. I did the first time and nicked my taint. Not fun. Now I use a round point.

Seriously tho I shave down there and find it very clean, my wife prefers it, which is a good thing, we all like to see what we are eating right? lol
A good safety razor will do it just fine, cartridges cause me irritation beyond belief no matter what pre and after shave care I use
Just go steady, and remember the stretch, which can be a handful at times haha
