I've been in New York for a little over a month now and have some observations to share. I might go all over the place, so... hang on.
The water here is awesome and plentiful. I wish the heat was a little more consistent from the tap but I use a kettle most of the time anyway. The soap washes off the blade between passes much easier, all of my soaps lathe up much easier as well. I have to learn how to not make too much. I've become mostly a night shaver here too, not sure why just happened that way.
I went to a dress rehearsal for Memphis last night, a musical about race issues and music in the 50's. I couldn't help noticing that the recently shaven gentleman sitting in front of me smelled of Tabac. Now that I know what these smells are I am picking them up everywhere. A week ago I went to the IFC theater to see Kubrick's 2001, and I swear someone around me smelled of Colleen's Leatherneck... Anyone here want to confess? :hmmm:
The only antique shops I've found around here sell REAL antiques, like pottery from Greece or ancient Japan. I look real funny walking in there with jeans and t-shirt asking about straights... :D
I just spent the last hour getting my Carter kitchen knife shave ready, I mean it's ready to go. I wonder how I might market that to restaurants around here...:hmmm:
A jazz musician told me how an old school drummer used to walk around with powdered chili and a straight razor for self defense. He'd throw a handful of it up, blow it into the assailant's face, and swipe at him with the razor. Those cats don't mess around.
OK, that's all I have for now.
