I just open the window and wipe mine with a towel but you might try an anti fogging product on your mirror. I believe RAIN-X makes something that will work. Try any auto parts store
this is an old cheat I learned from stagecraft.
soaping your mirror for fun and profit.
buy a can of the cheeeeeeeep knock off shavegel. Take your can of ACME brand SHAV SOPE and apply a dab to your hand. work up a foam and smear it on the glass. lather up the glass, then get in the shower. When you are done showering, wipe down the glass with a damp towel to remove the soap. it will leave a thin film on the glass that will prevent the steam from beading on the cold glass. When you wash your bathroom each week, windex the mirror and the film won't build up to disgusting levels. in stagecraft you buff the shit out of the dry shavecream to make a mirror no blind anyone with stagelights.
Don't do this on plastic "for shower" mirrors, as you will slowly etch the plastic, making it cloudy.
Thanks for the ideas. For some reason I never thought of opening the bathroom door.
shaving cream/gel into the mirror works
it's what i do
Turn the light on :)
There's a product I use called Worley's Wonder. It keeps the mirror fog free.
It lasts about 3 days, depending on the amount of moisture the mirror sees.
Soap/ cream works well. But, again...quite temporary.
Exhaust fans and open doors or windows help too.
I tried some of these ideas:
-Open door/window. Leaves a cold bathroom. Brrrrr!
-Towel/gel/spit on mirror - the fogs gone, but sometimes you can't see much of what you are doing
The ones that require maintenance (rainx, weekly shaving gel) is something I'm not apt to do (I'm lazy:) )
I also bought the so-called "fog-free" mirrors at walmart and other places, the smalls ones with suction cups for < $20, and they all broke within a month and eventually started to fog up anyway.
What I really recommend is getting a lighted cosmetic mirror. I found it one day in Walmart's make-up section - why they market it only to the ladies, I do not know. But these come with a 1x magnification on one side and 5x (or 7x) magnification on the other, which is usefull in some situations. More important, they are lighted with a small incandescent lightbulb from the inside, and that head prevents any fog (make sure if you buy one, it isn't LED/CFL lighted). I have a tiny bathroom, and if I turn it on before the shower, my huge mirror can be completely fogged up but this lil baby will be all clear. (If you forget, it'll take a minute or so to clear up once turned on).
I had one for the last three years. One of the best purchases I ever made. They should run you $20-35 depending where you get them. Here is but one example:
Walmart.com: Conair Oval Lighted Beauty Mirror, 7x Magnification: Beauty
Wipe it with a piece of newspaper or a rough paper towel (like you find in public bathrooms) - they'll dry the mirror well with 30seconds worth of elbow grease, and don't leave any paper fibre on the mirror. It's what I do, and it works wonders.
I just use a piece of TP, my standard shave soap, wipe it down, flip it over, wipe it down with the dry side. Works, probably not as well as rain-x or something.
The second mirror is a great idea. My girlfriend has one of those pull out mirrors with the scissor bracket (if you get my meaning). One side is normal and the other is magnifying. I should look into one of those.
I turn on the blow dryer I have hanging next to the sink on its highest setting, let it run for a minute or two, and then wipe the mirror off with a hand towel. :beer1:
I don't like to open the door because it lets cold air in *brrrr*

I bought some stuff at a sports store called "cat crap", (I know great name huh) But you can spray it on then wipe it off. Takes me about a minute. Lasts about a week but I have a very easily fogged mirror. The small bottle lasts about 3 months and only costs 5 buck. I found it in the winter sport section.
I also use the old HAIR DRYER on high, only takes a few seconds for me and all the fog is gone. It also keeps the bathroon nice and warm...
Good luck!
