I find that if I use my brush with canned goo, usually Gillette sensitive skin, I get a very good shave. More comfortable then most pucks but also not as close.
Its not bad if your in a hurry.
Barbasol green and gillette good news stay in my business travel pack. I travel light. Besides at 1am it's kinda hard to find a gas station or hotel selling uber creams.
Just because you shave with a straight doesn't mean you have to use a brush & soap. The two are mutually exclusive. You can get great shaves with modern gels/cans and a straight.
Sir, I beg to differ. Although I enjoy using fancy soaps and creams and a badger brush, I also enjoy using non-lathering shave creams and canned creams. My favorite canned cream in fact is Unscented Gillette Foamy. It may not be your choice, and that's of course perfectly fine. But I sincerely like using the Foamy.
Best Regards,
Jeff
I have to agree
The experience wasn't as good as a cream/soap and brush, but it did get the job done with no irritation and I would do it again in a pinch. The experiment with Barbasol and a Straight was a success as far as adding to my knowledge bank of what works and what doesn't.
I switched to a brush and soap about 25 years ago for two simple reasons. First, I'd go through a can every month and I didn't like tossing empty cans in the garbage when there was a more environmentally friendly option. Second, I've never had a puck of soap last less than 5 years, so the soaps are a much cheaper option. I know that others here burn through soap much faster than I do, and there are high end soaps that cost more, but even then I suspect that the soap option works out to be cheaper.
This is my prime use for canned Barbasol. A couple times a year I give it a go just for fun. While I'll admit that it's the best canned goo on the market, for a steady diet I'd rather stick with my soaps and brush. Best canned goo on the market, huh? Isn't that rather like being the hottest chick at the side show?:rofl2:
Sometimes, admitting you can get a perfectly good lather out of a can brings on the same reaction as when the child says the King isn't wearing any clothes.
