I have five different tribes of American Indian in my pedigree and have always had a very light beard, if you can even call it a beard. I can grow an acceptable Van Dyke, but could never grow a full beard. However, as I am now in my late 40's, I have noticed more hair on my face and the hair on my chin and mustache area seems to be fuller and more coarse, as well as mostly white.

beard changes
It sure is more gray at 58, about the same level of coarseness. Of course, forty years ago I never dreamed I would have to shave my earlobes.

Not at all. It just doesn't grow as fast.
I still grow enough of a beard to shave everyday, though. Maybe that's a good thing. This summer, I'm probably going to shave less frequently, like every other day.
