skin stretching question
I got my wonderfully re-honed smooth Dubl duck back from my honemeister..so heres my question..I have no left hand wrist movement so how do I go about stretching my chin valley spots effectively?..I keep getting nick'd if I dont skin stretch or try face stretching which doesnt do much nor does much get removed either..I try to finger stretch with what movement I can do right above the 2 spots..but my fingers seem to slip off from the lather..annoying!..any thoughts/ideas/comments/suggestions..BTW..(im into straight shaving 5 months or so) I think I do a pretty good job for a newbie..but few spots drive me nuts!
Thnx!

have you tried making crazy facial contortions?
-
Can u elaborate on this idea?
-
i'll try to find a video.. but people use techniques like jutting out their chin.. curling their lips, puffing out their cheeks, stretching their neck out.. you gotta learn to contort..
i'll return as soon as i find a video.

I puff my cheeks and stretch my neck area which is fine..also push out my lower lip area and so forth..but those 2 darn spots don't really go anywhere..will wait 4 yer vid..thnx!

If I have read you right, I'd shave what I could, dry my face, re-lather the awkward places keeping the rest of my face dry, then you should find that you will be able to stretch your skin without your fingers slipping.
Hope this helps

Besides contorting your face, you can try to pull from an area that's dry - even if it's a little ways away from the spot you're shaving.
The other tip some use is rubbing some alum block on your fingers to get a better grip, or you can hold a towel or piece of paper towel in your hand to use and get a better grip.

+1 on the alum block trick.. i tried it and i had spideygrip on my face..

It's the lather that makes my fingers slip
-
In general, you shoud avoid stretching your skin from a lathered spot; always touch your face on an area that is free of lather. I keep both my hands and the tang of the razor free of lather at all times to ensure I have the best possible grip. Slipping with either hand can be dangerous.
-
after you shave a little of the lather off, an inch or so, then dip your finger in some water and then take that finger and rub it on an alum block, then you will be able to stretch your skin without slippage, the finger with the alum on it will give you the traction you are looking for!!
-
+1 on nessmuck's advice. Try to stretch the skin on your face using an area that does not have lather on it. The alum will assist you in stretching your skin.

I find the slick face very hard to stretch. I solved the problem just by holding a piece of tissue, Kleenex, in my "stretching" hand. It gives me some grip on the skin and just by pressing and pulling I can get a good stretch on slick skin.
