Yesterday I honed my new Filarmonica Doble Temple 14. Like my 12, it was a bear to set the bevel. Could just be me, but it took 8 sets of heavy circles before they could shave arm hair. But I digress.
I shaved yesterday morning with the Doble Temple 12, and this morning with the Doble Temple 14. I learned two things.
First - Filarmonicas are well deserving of their reputation. If all I had in my rotation were these two razors I would be a happy man. The shave is exceptional, and yesterday's shave finally gave up the ghost after 15 hours - pretty darn good for me.
Second - The Doble Temple 14 is about as wide a blade as I want or need. The areas under my jawline grow sideways towards my Adam's apple. Even using a pretty steep scythe, I could barely get the area as close as a 6/8. I am sure I will with time and practice, but that will be the end of my 8/8 and larger pursuits. So all of those bidding on W&B For Barber's Use meatchoppers have one less person to compete against:D.
On the other hand, I will be in pursuit of Filis;).
Thank you Obie for the inspiration.
