I am not sure if it's just because I am paying attention to my face and whiskers but it seems like my whiskers are growing differently.
I feel like before I started this that the whiskers on my face were definitely growing downward lets say 15 degrees. But now they seem to be growing out much straighter. Like maybe 30-45 degrees.
Is this normal? It seems like they are all trying to grow out nicely so they can be shaved off!
I shall watch this topic with interest! The thought that the weird growth pattern below jaw line might change itself so as to be easier to remove would be great.
I think much of what you describe is just you paying attention to the direction the whiskers grow. I have found out much about my face and the direction the hair grows since starting to str8 shave this past January.
For instance, I have been wet shaving for many, many years. I always knew I had a small hair circle on the right side of my neck and always shaved it accordingly. Since taking up Str8s, I have learned that most of the whiskers on my neck don't grow north and south but rather on an angle between north and south and east and west. As a result I had to make adjustments to my ATG pass.

It is not that your whiskers grow differently, that is in different direction; rather, you notice them more than before. Our good friend MvCrash makes an excellent point on the same thought.
As wet shavers with the straight razor we often realize we're touching our face to feel the shave. How many gentlemen with multi-blade cartridge razors and canned shave goo really do that?
So it become a question of perception: we're sure our beard in part grows in different direction. It's only perception, however, created from a method of shaving that has taken a dreaded daily chore and turned it into an enjoyable ritual.

Now is the time to start faceturbating to see which way all those whiskers are growing and then you can use diff strokes and angles to wipe them out!!
My hair grows in different directions and at different angles. The hair just below my jawline grows at a 10 degree angle downward. Going WTG or XTG doesn't get those hairs off, I have to go ATG. Then the hair below my lip grows at a 45 degree angle and I can shave it easily in any direction.
