    Default 1 Whole Year!!!

As the title states I've been shaving with a straight for an entire year as of october 31st. I must say it's been a wonderful experience, absolutely nothing negative i can say. In all honesty my days are soooo much better when i start with a good shave, sometimes if i have enough regrowth I'll shave before i go to bed. And throughout the day i cant help but rub my face feeling how smooth it is. I can normally get my shaving done in 20-30 mins but i try to give myself a whole hour between my shower and shave so i can really relax and enjoy it and it truly makes a difference.

As far as my equipment I started off with two vintage razors from an antique store and a Dovo 5/8 with red bone scales from SRD. I did my first few shaves with one of those cheap synthetic brushes from CVS and got a Vulfix Super badger for Christmas last year, I haven't touched another brush since. My Tony Miller 4 sided paddle strop worked so well for me I didnt have to buy a hanging strop. I recently bought a TI Le Grelot with Kingwood scales and it has definitely become my favorite razor, I have a very hard time not using it everyday lol. Another plus about my Le Grelot is that it didnt come shave ready and instead of sending it back for sharpening I decided to learn a new skill. I bought the Norton 4k/8k combo stone and a DMT diamond stone for lapping, I've had no problems learning to hone.

Im thinking really hard about buying a new razor, its between another Le Grelot or a Whacker (not sure which model) and I haven't been able to talk myself into buying the Kent BLK12 or BLK8 I want....maybe next year. I would like to thank everybody who has a part in making this site work....you have all been very helpful with providing the information i needed to make the leap into straight shaving. Keep up the good work and happy shaving to all!!!

    Congratulations.

I love the le Grelots myself. They are wonderful shavers.

Once I got my first one I sold every other razor I had and have just been using the grelot. I now have 3 of them and you won't regret getting another one.

On the other hand I've never shaved with a waker and I could be missin out, but I'm loving it too much to want to try anything else!

Here's to many more great shaves no matter what you are using.

    Default Grats!

I have a ways to go for a first year, but am enjoying alot now.

I've not tried a Le Grelot. They're well spoken of. Is it a 1/4 hol. blade? If so, the wacker 1/4 hol. would be good company for it. You'll see threads & reviews of it. Nothing has unseated mine from most favored blade status until I recently tried my first Williams. 'Not apples to apples comparison, 'cause the Williams came w/ a jnat finish that's exceptional. The wacker is my own edge on the humble c12k. The wacker has been my 'go to' blade for both pleasure and efficiency if I need to hurry at all. If in a big hurry, I resort to the DE.
