How long since your last slice up??

:boohoo:Well, it's been so long since I sliced up my face you JUST KNOW how confident I was getting and suffered for my Hubris today, with my Newark "Electric" 4/8'th's a towel sliped off the edge of the sink and I turned my head to look and the little part in front of my left ear got it and got it GOOD! I had to finish my shave with my none dominent hand and ask my sweetie, Karen Sue to come in and help my put the crazy glue and bandage tape on when the bleeding fianlly subsided. And yes, I did put lots of Pot. Alum on, but a very clean and deep little razor cut was just to much for my clumsyness today!!:tameshigiri:Point is, has this happed to anyone of late that can relate?? My lady by the way won't let me hear the end of it, feel a bit like Ralphy in the move the chrstmas story, 'You Goona' shoot your eye out with that BB gun!!"

Monday week ago my upper lip suffered a serious cut that kept bleeding on and off until I put some Spongostan onto it.

Spongostan is really great stuff.

Spongostan sounds like great stuff, were might I score some, so to speak. The hard part is convincing my 7 years of grandchild her Papaw ain't gonna die any time soon due to excessive bleeding, [really upset the day'lights out'a her]

Any medical supplies store will be able to sell you Spongostan.

I just gave myself a good 1" cut while trying to figure out how to stroke from just in front of my ear forward (XTG). Obviously, I don't have it figured out yet and now feel like I'm growing lopsided sideburns as I wait for it to heal. Just happened yesterday. Even styptic couldn't completely stop it.

It's been 10 days for me. The thing is that the older I get the longer these cuts take to heal. These were not even deep slices but will still probably take several more days to disappear. I usually switch back to DE after a cut just so I am not cutting myself while still healing from a cut. This is my second "cut" break. I hope I don't need many more.

about three weeks ago i was finishing up on my left cheek went down close to my chin and i for no reason hiccuped that was enough to give me a 1 inch long slice i did not have the right supplies and it was Sunday night so no pharmacy run so i just kept using the styptic pen and alum block and finally stopped bleeding my wife still asks me if i got all my hiccups out before i shave.

its been at least a day or two. Honed a razor. I guess the tip was duller before. Almost lost an ear.

I get the odd weeper every now and then, but a full out blood gushing cut? It's been a while, I couldn't even tell you TBH

Just to chime back in fellow cut up's, I noticed about 5 very noticable scar's on my cheeks and chin that I have aquired from the great hobby of ours, of course I tell people I just lost a fight with a 10' tall brown bear and that usually stops the staring. But you and I know that truth, not don't we!!?? HeHeHe:banghead: I still love wet shaving though, even with all the blood and somtimes pain.

Last week I had a big gash on the back of my head.
There was apparently a pimple .... yeah that pimple you just cut off.:)
Much blood, and care of the home nurse. haha:tu

Got myself really good last October. In a hurry, not paying the proper attention, OW! Nice little memento on my right cheek...........:rolleyes:

I have a scar on my left cheek from my first shave with a shavette but since using a real straight I only seem to get the usual nicks. However, earlier this week I noticed blood in the lather as I wiped my blade. On the next pass I could see blood in the lather on the left side of my face but could not find any cut. I finished up and no (or not much) sting from the alum but about twenty or so minutes later noticed that I had about half inch smile on the tip of my pinkie finger.:cry:

I've got one on the right side of my face from being careless back in the fall. It's about three inches long and looks like a fencing scar on German officers in WW II movies...

About once a month I will get a small scratch, just enough to pink up the lather next pass, and usually difficult to locate. I have to remember to vary the angle and gentle up in that area for a couple of days so I do not open it again, then I am good.

Part of the hobby, inevitable result at some point. Anyway, last week I picked up another while trying a new angle. Gives your face some character!

Just this past Thursday, as a matter of fact. I was XTG near the chin on the right side and let the skin get just a bit too loose and presto, I was the proud owner of a 1" long cut. Like most, it looked a Hell of a lot worse than it really was. Thank God for styptic powder and Neosporin

Just last Friday I gave myself a pretty good slice on my lower right cheek. I was shaving XTG and my right (dominant hand) was stretching. As I began to release the pressure to reapply pressure closer to the razor my left hand mover about 1/4 inch in the wrong direction. I ended up with a 3/4 inch gash that was rather deep. I was able to get the bleeding to stop but was wondering, what is the best method to eliminate/minimize scarring? Being new at this, I am mildly concerned about long term damage.

I have looked up a couple of older posts. Found great stuff on how to control the issue short term but no long term prognosis.

My japanese Kamisori maiden voyage this past September resulted in a 3/4 inch gash on my cheek. After I finished WTG, ATG and XTG with no problem I decided to touch up my cheek and bam, the gash. I'm happy to report no issues after that with the Kamisori.

I've had some pretty nasty cuts and I've found that the consistent application of Neosporin (or other antibiotic ointment) once the bleeding is controlled to really help.

I was getting close to the mirror for some detail sideburn work, and as I brought my razor up to my face the tip scratched my chin. Sliced is a better word, it left a 2.5 inch bloody crescent moon across my chin. Luckily it was super sharp so it healed up quickly and nicely.

I'll chime in but, no answer. It would be tempting fate too much and I'd end up going in to work tonight missing a nose or something...

I'm a newbie and Wednesday night shaving, I took a nice little chunk out :tameshigiri: of my right side of my neck in that little spot near the end of the jaw bone, under the ear. Then, managed to do a nice little slice on the direct opposite side.

I'm definitely gonna take it a lot slower next time.

My last real "good" slice up was 20091022

LOL--I just started in December last year, so, for me, it's a great shave if I don't have to go to the emergency room and get stitches.

nothing serious yet, managed a few minor nicks when shaving but nothing to write home about, stypic stick sorts it in a second or so. but ive come close a few times so far

caught myself turning my head once with razor against cheek it was only the fact i moved my hand with the razor in time, that i didnt remove my chin in one swipe.

hoping i never have to update this thread with anything more serious mind :D

but i am new to this and over confidence will knock me down a few pegs sooner or later hehe
