4-10, depending on how close I want my neck.
I'd say that it takes me about 15-25 minutes as well plus about 5 for clean up and stropping. I'm getting quicker with each shave but don't wanna rush it as I'm still perfecting my technique.
about 2 min, hehehe i have only been shaving my sideburns, im letting my wopping 10 facial hairs grow for a little while.
i guess i'm about the average 15 - 20 minute noob
15 minutes, two pass, with clean up included, on average. Although I take longer if time allows, like weekends, when the wife isn't in a hurry to get in to the bathroom for the face making routine she needs before going to work. Taking a total of 25 minutes is just spoiling yourself, and a good thing to do, since you can't expect anyone else to do it for you. That's my average on a weekend anyway.

Normally, 20-30 minutes to do three passes.
Sometimes, I take the luxury approach with my pre-shave prep and stretch it out to 45 minutes.
If I am in a real hurry, 10 minutes by using a straight for WTG & XTG and a DE for ATG and finish up.
30-60 minutes, two passes. Slow, purposeful stropping strokes. Long lather time and prep. Annoying chatter from wife. (Sorry honey) Very methodical shave strokes. Clean face with hot water, alum, cold water, witch hazel, splash, balm. Clean up. Drying and restropping. Few minutes of faceturbation before bed.
I can get the same shave results from a 10 minute shave, but why would I? This hobby is one of the few luxuries I take the time to enjoy. If I end this shave with a nice homebrewed soft beer with cheese and crackers...heaven.
Took me 45 at the beginning and now I'm down to 10 or so. That is two pass and cold water.
I haven't timed a straight shave for ages. Maybe 10-15 minutes? I'm not sure.
If I count preparation that's about 20 min. but just shaving is abot 10-13 minutes (2 passes+touch up).
It depends on how my schedule is
If needed be, 5-10 minutes will give a satisfactory result.
Luckily, I'm more often than not, able to take my time with it.
20-30 minutes is more to my liking:)
For me its 10 minutes for the shave itself, plus another 5 for the whole thing. Thats for 2 1/2 passes (WTG, ATG and XTG on the neck area, thus the 1/2 pass :) )
I'm 1-2 minutes stropping, 5 minutes face lathering and 5-7 minutes shaving two passes. So 15 minutes on average. I like doing things quick and precise, keeps me brain sharp. I'm still learning and sometimes at the weekend I'll add a third pass with a warm face soak and fresh lather and a little more prep - my first two passes are done with the cold shave method.
Probably under thirty minutes total, but I don't normally notice the time when I shave. I just "zone out". Almost a meditative state.
Jim
I prepare my blade the night before, so there is no need for stropping.
I do minimal prep, just a minute for lathering, then on to chopping.
In a hurry, it's 6 minutes with WTG, ATG, and some touch-up.
If I have more time it's about 9 minutes until the brush is back in the cup.
straightrazorandy,
Always 45 minutes from setting foot in the bathroom to leaving it; when I shave with a staright I want it to be a relaxing bit of time for me.
I shave when I get home from work, and it really helps me relax and forget the crap of the day !
So always 45 minutes :)
Have fun !
Best regards
Russ
40 - 45 mins i guess? that's including preshave prep (usually a shower) making the lather, 3 passes, stropping in between passes clean up and post shave etc. and there's not a single second of it i don't enjoy.
I guess i f i was looking for a quick acceptable looking shave and doing a single pass i could be done in 10 - 15. but there's no fun in that ;)
Completely for about 40 minutes ...
Stropping, preparing the skin, getting lather, 3 passes ...
It takes me about 20 minutes with a face wash and rinse with warm/hot water, make lather, strop razor and two-pass shave and then I shower. I've tried the routine of taking my shower first, but hate having to battle the fogged mirror to shave after showering. ...I guess it's all about what you call the cart and what you call the horse.

most of you guys think i have little room to talk being that like the youngest member here but, i dont think its susposto be a timed event, its something that you just take your time and enjoy the whole experiance. i know it only takes me a few mins but id rather take a few mins vs 30 sec with a cartridge razor becuase you can be proud of a shave well done with a straightr razor that you take care of and hone and strop yourself.instead of a throwayay that thakes have the time and you cant be proud of that shave.
I, for one, don't give a damn about your age or weather or not you can grow a full beard. Personally, I think of you as another man out there who uses a straight razor and has every right to say his piece regarding the use of the same. We are all equals here.
It isn't a timed event, and should not need to be. Though I have timed myself occassionally, out of curiousity, as I've progressed. I know how fast I can do it if pushed, but I also know I would rather take a leisurely approach to it to enjoy the process.

About 7 minutes. Lately it's been happening either in a gym locker room or in the kitchen at a sink without a mirror. We're in an apartment now and my wife gets the one bathroom! My strops are hanging from a wire shelf in the kitchen and my shaving supplies are a high reach up on the top of a cabinet.
I'd say that during the weekday I'm about 10 minutes plus a bit of cleanup. On the weekends, I average about 25 to 30; Scuttle, two passes, hot towel at the end before a little splash of cold water.
hello, I'm gonna jump right in here and say it takes 5 min after a shower, unless I've neglected my blade a bit and have to do extra touch up strokes
For me, from the time I drop my drawers for a shower till I walk out of the bathroom, I'd say 40-45 minutes. I do shave at night (or anytime during the weekend), so I'm not particularly pressed for time.
10ish minutes for a half decent, two pass, cold water shave. When I've realised that I have an important meeting and I'm running a bit behind I can make myself look presentable in 5 minutes going cold water and face lathering with a cream (I prefer Proraso when I'm in a hurry because the menthol soothes the skin if I'm rough with myself). A few times a month I'll spil myself when the wife and kids are out in the evening and take a long hot shower, make some amazing hot/warm (uber)lather, and give myself 3-4 passes and feel like a champ. When I do that it takes forever. But not nearly long enough. They always come home too soon after.
From shower to finished shave takes about 30 minutes. I don't shave unless I've had a shower.
Shower to balm is around 45 minutes. It's one of the high points of my day and I see no need to rush it.
If I'm rushing a bit, maybe 15 mins, but I prefer to take my time and really enjoy it! :)
If I do that, maybe half an hour.
30~ minuets if I do two passes, 10~ if I only do one pass. It takes a while but it's worth it!
15 minutes for the whole routine - not sure about the actual shaving bit.
i.e. From putting cup in sink with brush and (cold) water, pre-shave stropping, lathering, shaving, rinsing face and blade, stropping, cleaning up, razor away, brush and cup away... 15 minutes.
Could probably do it quicker if I wanted, but I like to start my day at a leisurely pace.
All the best,
Michael.
Currently 30+ minutes. But only because I'm relatively new at doing 3 passes so I go really slow when I go ATG. But to be honest I really don't rush the other two passes, I enjoy the straight shave process too much. If I'm running late and need a fast shave I have to dig out my old DE setup.
From stepping out of the shower to cleaning up my gear is around 25-35 minutes, including stopping to sip some coffee between passes. I choose to take this long because it's a relaxing way to start my day instead of hectically scrambling to get out of the house. That being said, if I've overslept I can get a DFS in about 10 minutes. When I have the time (esp weekends) I love to stretch it out closer to 45 minutes.
Gentlemen:
Including the shower and the final cleanup — since my mama told me to be a good boy and always cleanup after myself — my morning shaving ritual covers an hour of sheer pleasure.

Obie
