Just another mind blowing straight shave

After a rather self induced stressful week that included an electric shave or two it was great to whip up a decent soap lather, nice and warm, and bang out another killer shave. nothing new to comment on or report, it's just awesome. I think the off-side of my face gets a better shave than the strong side now.

For all intensive purposes it's BBS, just by going a little across the grain.

On the off side , just under the side-burn I think it is easier now to just go ATG on that little spot in front of the ear.

An extra 30 seconds on the strop might be a nice little touch too.

Yea, you did. Sometimes my life gets a little hectic and I am shaving in the car on the way to work.

I haven't shaved with an electric in years, but this past winter I forgot my DE (my preferred travel razor) when the wife and I went to Puerto Vallarta. I had to use a 2 blade Gillette disposable, and as much as I hate to admit it it wasn't as bad as I remembered. But switching between razors sure does make you appreciate a fine straight shave though :tu

Yeah, I've had to grab a disposable before, just to get myself looking decent, again. Hated every minute of it, even though the turnout wasn't terrible. Felt great to get back into the swing of the straight.

My wife has gotten into couponing and she got a new five bladed Fusion for less than a dollar. It shaved okay with five blades in a row. But then I remembered that they have a single NON pivoting blade on the BACK! It was sweeeeeeeeeeeet. But, then again, you needed it cuz the five blades can't shave anywhere that is tight.

Friends don't let friends shave with electrics. ;^)

Every time I use an electric, the darn thing shorts out when I run it under the faucet to get the lather off of it.

Did I read that right --- the stress was self induced? What would possess a man to voluntarily take on stress to the point of having to use an electric razor? :-)

Talking about using second rate forms of shaving, I remember I couldn't help thinking to myself the last time I used my M3 (as a reminiscent experiment), " Geez this thing is bloody tiny and awkward!" All the while having images in my mind of the main character in 'North by Northwest' shaving in the bathroom at the train station with this tiny little razor that he'd borrowed off the movies Heroine. The bloke shaving beside him giving him a second stunned glance upon noticing the tiny contraption in his hand.

Someday I'd love to pull up next to someone in traffic who's grabbing a quick shave with a straight razor in his car on his way to work.

Brian (DiyGuy) only knows me from my apartment, which I've been renting for almost a year. I've been able to miss a lot of commuting this year. I'll likely be returning to a daily 4 hour commute around October. Normally, at work, I can come and go as I please, but somedays I actually have to be there at a specific time. I think if I weren't married I would seriously consider jumping off the grid, finding a nice piece of rural America, and start teaching college. Government consulting work has really worn me out. These guys are in their own little world. They don't understand budgets, commitment, or how to work together.

Last week though, was pretty cool. I came to work on Thusday without even shaving and broke out of a meeting in the afternoon, to go sailing.

Unfortunately, for me, the work day often begins with a search of my body and my car for cell phones and weapons, so no straights allowed in the car.

Of course, you do realize they can put a "bug" in your electric razor; something they can't do to your straight. You are living dangerously on the edge!

Believe me when I say, they can put a bug in a straight if they want to. Just because you're paranoid doesnt mean theyre not after you. :p

Please no offence to anybody but when I see somebody having a shave with an electric while they are stuck in traffic I am thinking you poor person, somebody needs to show you the finer things in life such as having a luxurious wet shave in the solitude of your lair such as your forefathers did when the only traffic was the horse and cart roped up outside. :)
